You may have observed how addicted kids are to YouTube if you are the parent of a tween or of a young child. Today’s teenagers are attracted to YouTube for the comedic videos, and kids have grown to rely on it for amusement, especially when mom and dad are working.

You simply need to look around a café or eatery to realize how much of an influence YouTube has had on children—many of them may be seen playing quietly on their parents’ smartphones or on their own tablets!

The issue with this is that a lot of parents aren’t aware of YouTube’s issues with its incapacity to control and monitor the content that is put online. As a result, kids run the danger of seeing improper material, some of which may be horrifying to adults and downright repulsive to young children. Many parents are aware that their children adore YouTube; in fact, many youngsters now prefer it to other traditional watching options, skipping television in favor of YouTube. However, is this behavior sensible and safe?

Parents should keep in mind that YouTube Kids is still a part of the main YouTube website and sifts through the questionable content to prevent it from making its way to kid-friendly channels, although this isn’t always working as intended. Nudity, obscenity, and inappropriate advertisements for the target audience are just a few of the troubling findings and issues with YouTube Kids that many individuals have brought up.

With the help of the following advice, we (the parents) can undertake part of the supervision that YouTube is attempting to do to eliminate the possibility of kids watching inappropriate information online.

It’s far simpler than you may imagine to keep an eye on the YouTube stuff that your kids are seeing. Make it a rule that the kids can only watch television while they are around you, such as in the kitchen when you are preparing dinner.

Don’t assume your youngster won’t find their way to something they shouldn’t be viewing and keep an eye on what they’re watching.

Keep an eye out for YouTube channels that are receiving negative press, compile a list of your child’s favorite channels, and only permit them to access those. Channels should be blocked if they make headlines for the wrong reasons. Remind your child that there is a possibility that some content may appear that is inappropriate for them to watch. Ensure they always let you know.
